After six shutout innings from rookie Josh Collmenter, reliever Sam Demel gave up a three-run pinch-hit homer to Casey McGehee in the seventh. Arizona Diamondbacks' Joe Saunders has allowed two runs or fewer while working seven innings in each of his last three starts, going 2-0. He surrendered two runs and eight hits in a 4-2 win over Oakland on Saturday.
St. Louis Cardinals won nine of his first 10 starts this year, but they’ve lost his last five surrounding a stint on the DL due to a hip problem.
