His only previous appearance against the Giants came in relief April 6 in an 8-4 loss. He gave up two runs and recorded one out. He will make his sixth career start and third in a row for San Diego. San Francisco Giants bullpen yielded two hits over eight innings Wednesday to stretch its scoreless innings streak to 10. Those relievers retired San Diego’s last 17 hitters, including all 15 in extra innings. They avoided a fourth straight loss with Wednesday’s 6-5, 14-inning victory. Nate Schierholtz hit his second home run of the game leading off the bottom of the 14th to give the Giants their third win in 12 home games with the Padres.
