Cincinnati Reds Mike Leake seeks a third straight win after he allowed four runs over six innings Sunday in a 7-5 victory over Cleveland. He’s won his last three road outings, posting 14 consecutive scoreless innings in the last two. They lost for the fifth time in seven games, going 2 for 13 with runners in scoring position. Votto and Phillips each had two hits as Cincinnati finished with 12. Reds' Mike Leake has no decisions and a 3.46 ERA in two starts against Milwaukee this year. Yuniesky Betancourt is 4 for 5 against Leake in those games, while Weeks has gone 3 for 6 with a triple and a homer.
Milwaukee Brewers was well aware of its previous problems against Cincinnati. They got contributions from their other All-Stars in the series opener. Rickie Weeks had a three-run homer and Prince Fielder doubled and scored the game’s first run. Milwaukee Brewers are unsure when All-Star left fielder Ryan Braun will play again. Braun missed his fifth straight game Thursday, although tests showed no damage to his strained left calf. They are a major league-best 31-13 at home.
